Community groups, arts and culture organizations, unions, seniors and students have banned together to press the provincial government to re-think its budget priorities. The group is called the Coalition to Build a Better BC. This Saturday, April 10th, they have organized a rally for 12:00 noon at the Vancouver Art Gallery.

While some may say that the world is run by those who show up to meetings, it's probably more accurate to say that if you want to make a difference in your community, you need to show up. That's why FPSE is encouraging all its members who live in the Lower Mainland region to join with others from the community who share our concerns about the choices that the provincial government has made with its latest budgets. Real needs are being ignored and real people are suffering as a result. In our sector we can point to the burden of skyrocketing tuition fees and the stress created by underfunding to make the case that the government's fiscal priorities are putting BC on the wrong track.

The provincial government needs to hear loud and clear that the community is looking for better solutions than the ones tabled in the March 2010 provincial budget. BC is a province full of potential. On April 10th show your support. It will make a world of difference.
